Physiotherapy Experts are physical therapists with advanced training and extensive hands-on experience in treating people with movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease (PD). They help patients manage their symptoms by using exercise, manual therapy, and education. They may also prescribe devices to aid in transfers, lower limb orthotics, and gait and balance retraining. Physiotherapy is a widely used and effective treatment for managing PD symptoms and preventing progression of the disease.

Some people seek physiotherapy after a health crisis such as a stroke, heart attack or traumatic brain injury, to restore functional mobility and improve quality of life. Others have a chronic health condition such as low back pain or arthritis, and are often referred by their doctor to a physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy Experts: The Talent Behind Rehab Lab’s Success

A physiotherapist has a masters degree or higher in physiotherapy and is registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP). They are also required to have professional indemnity insurance. Physiotherapists work in clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation facilities.

In this study, PwP reported that the definition of physiotherapy expertise they were provided within CPI aligned with the IOM framework for quality of care and mostly with patient centeredness. PwP were able to identify aspects of expert physiotherapy and were willing to search for them. Therefore, we recommend that CPI include additional information to facilitate the selection of expert physiotherapists by PwP making selective referral decisions. This would enable them to maximize the benefits of the services they receive.
